Sreolsar Lake of Jalori Pass in Kullu: Himachal Pradesh
- Sreolsar Lake of Kullu is well known for its beauty and mesmerizing view of nature. The lake belongs to the Goddess Durga (Budhi Nagan) mother of all the Naag Devta of Kullu region. As per locals and Pujari, the main temple of Mata Budhi Nagan is under the Lake so usually every pilgrimage, locals pray towards the Lake and the Unseen temple is situated somewhere in the middle of the lake.
- The Scenic beauty attracts many travelers to Sreolsar Lake but locals usually go there with the Local Nag Devta God of their regions and celebrate and offer their animals especially Sheep (Khadu) to the Yoginis for their well-being and local ladies mostly offer Ghee (ghee ki feri) and drops the Ghee in the pathway around the Lake in a Full Circle (Parikrama).
- Â In ancient stories, the temple was built by the Pandavas outside the lake and the Lake was cleaned by the crows now the temple was built again (renovated) by the Pujari and pooja and cleaning was also done by the pujari assigned by the locals. Earlier the place was for yoginis to get together but later Maa Durga played a bet and won the place for herself and let yoginis celebrate there on a few occasions.

Where to stay in Sreolsar Lake?
There are many options for staying near the Lake If you looking for budget budget-friendly stay then check the sarayein of the temple or the Dhaba near by lake.
There are many camsites far from Sreolsar Lake but the best options are to enjoy the valley view and Nature.
You can carry your own tent but try not to put it near by lake. The locals can offend easily because of the spirituality towards the lake and Maa Budhi Nagin home so try to get permission from the Pujari or camp far away from the Lake.
Experience Travel Itinerary and some Experiences
We started our journey in the early morning from Dalash (Aani) to Jalori Pass for a small picnic and to get blessings of Devi Buddhi Nagin, So we prepared some offerings and food for our picnic in our home a traveled straight towards Jalori Pass no halt in between and after reaching Jalori Pass we started our 5-6km hike from Maa Kali temple Jalori.Â
Our hike started from a lush green meadow road and within a few minutes we reached the first campsite which is one the best and oldest in the valley. If you are looking for a night stay or camping option then this site was the best from my point of view, we entered a silent jungle full of huge pine and deodar trees, and the whole route is in the jungle only maintained by the forest department and Himachal government. there were lots of stalls and dhaba for tea and snacks and proper food and fast food options.Â
Slowly and steadily we reached our destination the Sreolsar Lake it was a huge relief for our legs and body then we started our prayer and burned some dhoop and gave our offerings and some money in the lake as well as in the temple near the lake. The original temple of Mata Budhi Nagin is inside the lake and some Murtis and Statues are in the temple near the lake then we completed our parikrama of the Lake and headed towards the Sarai and clear field to grab some food and refreshment. The remaining food we gave to the crows and dogs. It was an amazing experience watching crows grab the food quickly seems like they last ate something a few days ago.
After lunch, we did some photoshoots and then headed back to Jalori Pass from the same route and only a few chose the alternate route towards the Khanag Village down the hill easiest route shorter than the original route. So after reaching Jalori Pass we had some tea and snacks and headed towards Khanag Village to receive other group persons and then head back to our Village.
