
Rupin Pass: A High Altitude Trek in Rohru Valley
Rupin Pass is a high-altitude pass of 15,300ft above sea level in the
Himalayan ranges of Himachal Pradesh, India. The trek route starts from the unexplored villages of Himachal Pradesh. We have a trail, the oldest route used by the shepherds to move their pet animals and trade routes between the villages.
 Rupin Pass consists of traditional living and traditional people of Himachal Pradesh. We have crossed rocky trails, wooden bridges, glaciers, icy slopes, and snow fields.

How to Reach Rupin Pass?
Chandigarh – ShimlaÂ
From Chandigarh Airport, you can book cabs/taxis as well as ordinary buses and rental bikes. Besides this, overnight journeys through Volvo buses up to Shimla ISBT. Distance Covered – Chandigarh to Shimla -125km via NH 05
Volvo Tickets – 700/- INR per person

Shimla – Larot
Early in the morning, you will be in Shimla ISBT, as the journey takes only 4 hours. So book a cab or ordinary bus towards Rohru.
On the way, you will have your lunch at Kharapathar.
After reaching Rohru Station you have to book a cab or an ordinary bus to Larot Village. After reaching, you can set up your camping or look for a homestay. overnight stay at Larot village in camps.
Distance Covered –Â Â Shimla to Rohru – 108km via Theog- Hatkoti
Rohru to Larot -32km via Dodra-kwar

Larot –BawtaÂ
Now, from Larot village, you have to drive through Chansal Pass to reach your next destination, from where you can start your trek and hire a guide who will take you through the proper route and explain about the valley so you can enjoy the
beautiful views.
After reaching Bawta, you can camp or look for other campsites or Homestay. Overnight stay at Bawta village.
Distance Covered – 50km Drive and 2km trek

Bawta –Jiskoon – Jakha(Approx 5 km walk;4-5 hrs)
Now, early morning, complete your daily routine, and after breakfast ready to explore the Shepherd trail, which crosses through the village, the beautiful way towards the Jakha village. You have to take appropriate steps and midday breaks according to the conditions so that you can admire the beautiful valley.
After completing the trail, you will reach Jakha in the afternoon. So take proper rest stretch your body and let yourself acclimatize to the climate, then you can walk to the nearby
village for small talk and experiences, If you can collect some old wood then you have the possibility of a bonfire in the evening. Overnight stay at Jakha village.
Jakhato Lower waterfall Camps(10-12 km, Approx 8 hrs )
Now, you will leave the village route and enter the forest land of Burans Kandi. As you cross the forest, you will walk along the Rupin River in Lambi Dhar and head towards Dhanderas Thach to reach the Lower Waterfall campsite, where you can camp for the night. Overnight stay at Dhanderas Thach.

Dhanderas Thatch to Upper Waterfall Camp(3-4 hrs)
Now, you have to trek early in the morning as you have to pass through Upperwater Fall Campsite, which can be a good task for every trekker. As you progress forward, you will see the most beautiful valley and scenic view of the trek. You have to cross the snow path and glacial surfaces and the marigold flowers mountain.
As you walk along the hill, you pass the thick snow patch and rocky patches to reach the Upper Waterfall campsite area. Prepare your camps for the night and overnight stay at the Upper Waterfall Area.

Upper water fall – Rupin Pass – Ronti Gad
Now comes the day of Rupin Pass, so you have to start early in the morning before sunlight. Gear up with your equipment and headlights, and start your trek.
Today, you have to cover one of the longest stretches of the trek, so take some energy bars with you and refill your energy from time to time so you can climb on the snow patches of Rupin Pass.
After reaching Rupin Pass, get ready for your next adventure of sliding on the snow.
A bit of a descendant then start your slide down the
snow to reach your next destination, Rukti Gad. Thereafter, you will walk through a descending way to reach your next campsite of Ronti Gad. As your location is one of the coldest camping sites, prepare your camps to wear extra layers and add fleece layers to your sleeping bags. Overnight stay at Ronti Gad.

Ronti Gad to Sangla Via Sangla Kanda
Now prepare for the last day of your trek, a Downward climb towards Ronti Gad Valley, After that you will reach Sangla Kanda Lake and some small villages nearby where you relax a bit click some memorable picks, and later on head towards Sangla Village for an overnight stay and freshen up and relaxing in the homestay and share your experiences.
Sangla – Shimla
Explore Sangla Village and book your cab/taxi to Shimla. After reaching Shimla, you have many options to reach Chandigarh Airport to catch your flights.

The guide is very important for the trek, and porters depend on your luggage and capacity to handle the camping and other essential things for camp. My suggestion is to book some porters so you can enjoy the valley view and your stay, and the company of the local people.
