Chandernahan Lake of Rohru and Snow Treks in Winter

Chandernahan Lake is situated in Chandernahan Valley around 14000feet surrounded by many glaciers and springs, out of  Six Lakes Chandernahan Lake is the most famous lake due to the main and pure source of the Pabbar River, The line of Rohru Valley, and the villagers are surrounded by Chandernahan Valley.

In winter the whole Valley is covered with snow and the lush green meadows turn into heavenly mountains.

How to Reach Chandernahan Lake?

We started our journey from Shimla where all groups and guides gathered in a pre-decided place at 07:30 am and started the journey through a cab/taxi to Janghlik village.

On the way, we drive through Kufri, Theog, and Kharapathar. Everyone takes appropriate breaks to click photographs of the valley.
As we reach Rohru Station, we buy some essential stuff, medicine dry fruits, etc. then proceed to Janghlik. We stayed in Janghlik Village for the night in a wooden homestay. the host was amazing he provided the best room and served the dinner soon because in winter the sunset is around 5:00 pm and we went to sleep early because the next morning we had to start our 1st day of the trek on the snowy mountain.

The last point in the trek is charging the camera and mobile batteries.

meadows. The trek was amazing and lengthy.

Dayara Thach

After reaching Dayara Thach we enjoyed our hot and spicy lunch. We reached there early so we explored Dayara Thach and did some good stretching and yoga activities and got acclimatized.

Then the Host serves some Evening snacks and tea where all the trekkers share some experiences and stories. Today was the camp night so we wore warm clothes after dinner and enjoyed the cozy sleeping bag in such a harsh snowy winter.

Dayara thach to LithamThach

Early morning I was awake but didn’t want to go out for stretching and other stuff and morning routine, somehow I pushed my limit and went out from my camp.

After breakfast, We geared up, suited up, and started trekking and when the sun shone that was the only time I loved the sun heat we all enjoyed the sunrise at Dayara Thach.

Today we Crossed the beautiful meadows of Mounty Thach and saw many water streams.

Mid-day or noontime we reached Litham Thach where the host serves a hot and spicy lunch (Tour Planner). After that, we take a nap for one hour.

Then comes snacks and Tea time where we all shared our experiences. Then we helped the cooks and other people with Dinner preparation after that we wore our warm clothes and gathered for dinner and after some good quality talk we went back to our campsite and slept well.

Litham thach –Mounty Thach

That day was the D-day of the trek. We started early after breakfast till 07:00 a.m. It’s a 02 hrs gradual ascent to the snout of the waterfall followed by a steep climb for about an hour or 2. There are 07 glacial pounds in Chandarnahan Valley (as told by locals). The guide took us to Five Lakes and we captured the view but what we saw there couldn’t captured by the camera lens then we trekked back, there was a steep descent on the way back to Litham. We walk approx 01-02 hours from Litham to reach the next campsite at Mounty
Thach.

Janglikh – Shimla

After breakfast, we packed our bags and checked all the items headed towards the cab then started our journey back to Shimla by cab.

So this is the wholesome of our snow trek event journey where we experienced our limits and made new friends. My suggestion for new trekkers is to kindly get yourself medically checked and keep your fitness level high.
