Buran Pass Trek is one of the most beautiful treks in Himachal Pradesh. where you can visit at any time of the year, but the best time is winter to experience the thrill and natural beauty of the valley. This trek provides you with the opportunity to trek in
lush green forests and beautiful meadows, along with the view of many waterfalls
and glacial lakes. Buran Pass Trek starts from the last village located at Pabber Valley, Rohru in District Shimla, and ends at Burua village in the district of Kinnaur in Himachal Pradesh.

Buran Pass is located in Himachal Pradesh at an altitude of 15,000 ft and 4572 meters, which connects the district of Shimla and Kinnaur of Himachal Pradesh.

How to reach the Buran Pass Trek?

Once you reach the International Airport in India, secondly, get a connecting flight to Chandigarh.

Chandigarh – Shimla 

By Air: From Chandigarh, you can book your flight to Jubbarhatti airport, which is one of the nearest airports to Shimla, around 22 km by road.

By Train: From Chandigarh Airport, look for local transport, a Cab/taxi, an autorickshaw to reach Chandigarh Railway Station or a nearby station to reach Kalka Station, so you can change trains further to Shimla, because there will be no broadguage trains towards Shimla, you have to travel through toy trains. Once you reach Kalka Station, you have to board the toy train towards Shimla with a maximum of 10 boggies and compact track due to the formidable hilly areas.

By Road: From Chandigarh airport, you can book cabs/taxis, ordinary buses, Rental bikes, and overnight journeys through Volvo buses up to the Shimla ISBT.

Shimla – Janghlik

By road(160 km, 6-8 hrs)

I booked the package through a travel company and they received me at a pre-defined place in Shimla where I met with some other fellow travelers and guides who would entertain and guide us through the way, then we picked our ride to Janglik Village and drove through Green Valley, Kufri, Theog, Kharapathar, and Rohru. Reach Janghlik till evening.

You can book a cab/taxi or an ordinary bus, also available from the ISBT Shimla.

Shimla to Rohru distance is 105km, thereafter head towards Janghlik Village by cab and hire a guide for the route safety, well known about the conditions, and help you in every campsite, and good experience.

Evening time you will meet many travelers and local guides at
Janghlik. They will brief you about the trek route and difficulties. You can camp or book a homestay for the night. Overnight stay at Janghlik.

How to Trek the Buran Pass?

Janghlik – Dayara Thach (Approx 5 hrs)

Explore the village in the morning, and you will see some old Pahari architecture and amazing living skills. After that, start the trek to Dayara
Thach. The trek starts by crossing the village, and soon you will enter the thick forest of Dayara Thach, which makes the walk
very pleasant. Soon you will be in Simur Thach, where you can relax a bit and then head towards your next destination. After reaching Dayara Thach, set up your camps for the night, and stay overnight at Dayara Thach.

Dayara Thach – Litham Thach (3-4 hrs)

Now, from here start your trek early morning and witness the mindblowing Sunrise at Dayara Thach. Then take an appropriate halt and reach your next destination, Litham Thach. If you are a good trekker, you will reach Litham Thach before noon. Now set up your camping in a good place and enjoy your day and tea with a beautiful view, and acclimate yourself to these conditions. Overnight stay at Litham Thach.

Litham – Chandarnahan Lakes – Litham

From Litham Thach, you can explore Chandarnahan lakes and 07 glacial ponds in Chandarnahan valley. Start your trek early and, after exploring the whole valley, return to your Litham Thach campsite. overnight stay at Litham Thach.

Litham – Nalabansh Campsite(4 hrs)

Now we have to trek for around 4 to 5 hours towards Nalabansh Valley. On the way, you
will see Gunas waterfalls, Gunas Pass, and Rupin Valley cliffs. Now head towards your next destination, and soon you will reach Nalabansh Campsite. Look for a good site for camps and rest for the day, as you have to cross the Buran  Pass the next day. Overnight stay at Nalabansh.

Elevated Snow Climbing

Nalabansh – Munirang Via Buran Pass(10 hrs)

Now comes the day when you have to cross and summit Buran Pass. So start your trek early morning and start climbing towards Buran Pass, which is almost at an altitude of 15000 ft You have to take proper rest and refill your energy and make sure of water intake of your body from time to time to prevent yourself from AMS (Acute mountain Sickness). Now, after reaching Buran Pass, spend some time there and then head towards your next destination, Munirang. Overnight stay at Munirang

Munirang – Burua Village – shimla

From Munirang, your last day of the trek is complicated and formidable, descending, so prepare yourself to move towards Bursa village. The journey is about 5 hours, so make sure to have proper halts in between so that your legs don’t get too much stress. Once you reach Kinnaur Valley, walk up to Karcham, the last point of the trek, and thereafter, you can arrange or book a cab/taxi to Shimla.

Shimla – Chandigarh

From Shimla to Chandigarh, you can do an Overnight journey through Volvo or any ordinary bus.

You can also book cabs/taxis near the ISBT Shimla.
