Chowni Kothi of Shri Shringa Rishi in Jibhi: Chehni Kothi
The famous Rishi of the Himalayas the Supreme Deity of Locals Banjar(Jibhi), and nearby places. Kulluvi locals and other villagers gather in Chowni for a small festival and local pooja in Chowni(chehni) village where I saw an old building tower named Chowni Kothi of Shri Shringa Rishi Ji used by villagers for(Jognis)Maa Kali Pooja and Blessings. They usually offer goats and Sheep for the well-being of their people, cattle, and all the society around them. As per locals, the tower was also used for war by locals to protect themself from foreign invaders and unwanted enemies. if someone stays there for a little longer I am sure they will listen to so many stories about the Chowni Kothi and their traditional values from the Chowni Kothi owners.Â
This famous monument tower of Banjar (Jibhi) was made by Thakur Dadia as a sign of love in memory of her loving wife Chowni after her death. This tower was fully designed by a local architect and made in local style with rock and wooden blocks. I also saw the small tower where you can easily climb and explore the hidden historic sculptures and ancient rooms used by higher authorities of the village. Now they have placed the Khattu Shyam Ji (God Krishna) statue which was once placed there by their king or the Leader of the Village. So they usually celebrate Janamashtmi (God Krishna’s Birthday) with all the nearby villagers.
The traditional gatherings and festivals will take you to the next vibe they perform so many dance acts and skits for awareness and guidance to the next generation. Anyone can join and celebrate with them with specific rules like No Alcohol and Teasing. The journey and a short trek to reach Chowni will mesmerize you “Enjoy the journey, not the Destination”.
Shri Shringa Rishi ji was well known for his powers and is also mentioned in the Hindu Holy book Ramayana. Rishi Shringa Ji performs (Putr Kaameshti Yagya) pooja with Raja Dashrath and his o3 Queens for blessings and in search of powerful and kind sons. As a result, the 03 Queens gave birth to 04 superior sons named Ram, Laxman, Bharat, and Shatrugan who were blessed and made History in the Hindu Holy books they all worshiped as God.Â
